Having an Electric Fleet…

Having an Electric Fleet…

Having an Electric Fleet –

Alice Wilson – Digital Marketing Assistant

Are you a Fleet Manager or employee that is in control of a fleet and wants to switch to EV? Take a read of this blog, it will be worth your while…

Having an Electric Fleet is what all fleet managers consider and think about. However, the time of looking more into switching to EV is very time consuming. Also, the costs of converting to EV is the worrying and daunting part as you want it to be specifically right. It all comes down to the fear of the unknown. You, myself an fleet managers would never be able to work out which electric vehicles would suit each driver. That’s why choosing CleanCar saves you time and shows you the benefits of making the switch to electric vehicles for each of your drivers etc. see, all done for you.

What if –

What if the CleanCar system told you, changing your fleet to an Electric Fleet could save you money and in fact keep your air cleaner for your environment. Would you change your mind or even consider making the EV switch?

I thought you might…

Having a small or large fleet doesn’t mean your drivers will suit the same electric vehicles. All of your drivers daily journey’s are different. Deciding on making the EV switch is hard but having CleanCar guide you on the EV roads is beneficial. Once you have made the decision you have all the information to back your decision up for whatever that may be. For Example; Half of your fleet could be doing 100’s miles a day up and down the country. Whereas your other drivers might only drive 20 miles per day. So, the same vehicle’s would not be beneficial to each driver. CleanCar decides what vehicle would benefit each of your drivers individually. This is decided to each driver in their own personal account.

It’s okay for the CleanCar System to say you will save money, but it’s proving to you is the best bit. A lot of fleet managers are worried about making that leap to an Electric Fleet. Which is understandable, as it’s their responsibility and making the right decision counts as the money is funded from the business, so the decision has to be 100% correct. As I mentioned before, having data and information to prove to your Managing Director that the business will save money from the EV switch is what you want. This really does back your case up and it also shows that you have a understanding of how you are going to save etc.

Considering a Electric fleet…

Having an Electric Fleet is exciting. Especially for all the new vehicles that drivers will be driving around the car park at your office but where do we charge all those vehicles? How will they get in to meetings on time with the range that EV’s have? Majority of users will have charging points at home, so vehicles are guaranteed a charge throughout the night. So, it isn’t as worrying as you think… The worrying part from majority of drivers is called “range anxiety” something that you wouldn’t be able to change it will be overcome in time.  It is just the initial worrying thought of thinking you are going to be running out of battery when you have a lot longer than you think to go before the battery runs out.

You charge your phone right? You know how much a 100% can last. I know my phone battery only last about 8 hours so as soon as I get home it will need a charge. I have had the phone for a year now, I’m used to how long the battery lasts. Do you see what I’m getting at? You get used to it. You adapt around it. There is nothing to worry about there are so many charging points around the country and at service stations and cities the country is really adapting to Electric Vehicles it’s great.

Recovery cover for your fleet –

Another thing you are probably thinking about is recovery. Are my drivers going to be looked after if the vehicle breaks down or runs out of charge? There is no need to worry regarding this as your drivers will be treated the same as any other car. How will they know how to fix a Electric Vehicle?

You ask, well… A lot of recovery companies have trained their employees to be prepared as there are a lot EV’s on the road already.

There are recovery companies that will tow you to the nearest charging station if you have ran out of battery, so you don’t just contact your recovery company when you have just “broken down”. This is to ensure that you your recovery service keeps you safe. There are a lot of companies are now supporting Electric Fleets. If you have actually broken down they would be able to sort the issue out as well as mechanic will be trained to meet the EV standards etc.

Knowing that a vehicle you drive everyday is making you overspend is mind blowing…

It is mind blowing especially knowing the amount of money you could be saving on other things. If you saw the amount of money the business would save from the EV switch, well… you would switch tomorrow! It is the fear of the unknown. Let CleanCar tell you. Not every business is benefited by switching to EV. This is the part where CleanCar find’s out if you are. We can find you a fleet solutions and give you a better idea of what would happen if you wanted to make the EV Switch.

Switching your Fleet to an Electric Fleet is a BIG jump in the business but knowing the benefits of electric vehicles and knowing how the electric vehicle technology is growing and expanding it is such an advantage to you and the business. Improving your knowledge on electric vehicles; charging points, solar panels it’s all to learn… Technology that is being improved each and every day to benefit businesses you haven’t even heard about yet.

Now, finding out if your drivers are doing the amount of miles that would be suitable for a EV is possible. The CleanCar system shows what vehicles are beneficial for individual drivers by a capture of journeys from the CleanCar device an a click of a button. All journeys are stored in their own personal accounts that are set up by the system, this is when the system will show what EV’s will be beneficial for the driver an if electric vehicle would be beneficial.

How can you measure this by their journeys?

Here is a brief explanation of the CleanCar system. A CleanCar Device that goes into 12V of the vehicle. CleanCar’s device would then record all journeys that have been driven. You will choose how long you use the CleanCar system for. The more time you use the CleanCar system the more data you will have and can reflect on. The CleanCar data will then be stored in your own personal account. After using the CleanCar device you will then be able to review your own data and view what vehicles will be beneficial for you in your account.

Switching EV in 300 words…

Switching EV in 300 words…

Switching EV…

“CleanCar is a system that “Makes it Easy to Switch to Electric Vehicles.

Many fleets today understand the benefits of adopting electric vehicles but are currently on the fence and unable to make the switch to taking this exciting technology.

They usually have unanswered questions including:

  • Are EV’s suitable for our requirements?
  • Which vehicles are best suited to our needs?
  • Will we save any money by making the switch?
  • What kind of chargers do we need, how many do we need and where should we install them

Without answers to these questions, the decision to switch is risky, and understandably fleets are hesitant.

CleanCar addresses the risk for fleet decision makers by answering all of the questions above.

The CleanCar system is simple to explain; we take a small self-fit GPS device that a driver plugs into the 12v cigarette lighter of their vehicle and they drive about as usual.  The journey patterns are then automatically uploaded to our CleanCar portal.

The driver and fleet manager can then log in to the system and see the following:

  1. Is a driver suited to an EV, i.e. based on the usage of their current vehicle, could switching to an EV be practical.
  2. Which EV is best suited to a drivers needs.
  3. Would an EV be a cost-effective alternative to an equivalent diesel or petrol, we measure Whole Life Cost of both vehicle sot make a comparison.
  4. If a fleet is going to switch some vehicles, how many charge points do they need and where should they locate them (we can see where vehicle are parked and where they dwell)

The CleanCar system can be implemented in as little as 24 hours and within a month will give a fleet a full understanding of its EV transition options.

Switching EV is the way forward.

The content in the “BusinessCar” Magazine – “Jack Carfrae reports” –

CleanCar are proud to announce we are in the BuisnessCar Magazine. Please take a read of the article. This article tells you all about the “app-based version of its CleanCar service”.

“Electric Vehicle Data Service to Broaden Reach”

To read the report from Jack Carfrae, please either click on the link above or read the whole article below. To visit the official magazine page please click here.

“Fleetinnovations has launched an app-based version of its Cleancar service that tells busineses whether or not they can feasibly switch to electric vehicles.”

“Fleet Innovations have converted its CleanCar system to an app format to roll it out to a wider number of customers.

The company specialises in establishing whether or not businesses could realistically swap existing internal combustion vehicles for plug-in equivalents by tracking data gleaned from dongles inserted into the vehicles’ 12-volt sockets. The practice typically involves collecting around a month’s worth of telematics-style information about typical cycles, which is then scrutinised to ascertain if vehicle’s normal usage is such that it could be swapped for an electric version without hindrance tot he operation and determine if the exchange would generate a financial saving.

Launched this month, the app version is said to offer exactly the same data and results, and will be distributed in conjunction with partner firms such as energy suppliers and dealer groups looking to promote electric vehicles (EVs) and clean energy initiatives.

Speaking to BusinessCar, CEO Alex Baker explained that moving to a digital format would allow the service to reach a broader audience. “If somebody’s got 300 vehicles, all we do is send out 300 dongles to the company and away you go” he said.”Bringing on 300 users with dongles is easy at the moment; bringing on 10,000 users really isn’t. We’ve spent a lot of time rebuilding it so that if, for arguments sake, a major energy company wanted to offer it to 100,000 users then this system will support that. It’s designed to to be rolled out to large numbers of users very quickly”

He said CleanCar’s fundamental practice of data gathering would not differ with the new platform, but added that while the app would render the service available to a larger group, it would only offer data gathering and results, and would not include subsequent analytical and consultancy work previously offered to fleet customers. “With the dongle, once the journeys are tracked, they’re sent via a sim card to our portal.” he added. “We normally collect about a month’s worth of data, and we’re ten able to say ‘One, are you suitable for an electric vehicle? Two, which electric vehicles are best suited? And three, will you actually save any money by making the switch from petrol/diesel to an electric vehicle?’

“In terms of the difference between using an app and a dongle, the data we collect is the same. I supposed it’s the 80/20 rule, where 80% of the process is the same for everybody but, previously, there’s been quite a lot of bespoking, specific to fleets, whereas the plan for the app is to get it our there and keep building on it.”

The app will primarily be offered as a white label product, allowing partner companies to market it under their own name and with additional feature specific to the organisations. “Our ideal partners for this would be energy companies, vehicle motor manufacturers, finance companies, dealer groups – basically anybody that’s selling vehicles, charge points, energy or anything like that – and would benefit from people driving electric vehicles,” Said Baker.”We could have a dealer group version, for example, and we’d have the capability to build in that dealer group’s pricing, special deals and things like that. There’d be a bit of development work required for that sort of thing, but we could absolutely do it.”

He added that one large business has already signed up to the launch its own, labelled version and that the app have been well received by other blue chip firms canvassed by the company. “what we didn’t realised is that, when we went out and started speaking to potential partners, just how positive those conversations would be.”

Baker said the app would also be available via conventional online channels such as the Apple app store and Google Play as a free download, but users would be charged an as-yet undisclosed fee in order to progress with the service, as the firm’s primary objective was to market the app via large partner businesses. All versions will, however, be continuously updated based on customer feedback and additional but currently unspecified features are due to be added over time.

The company has previously worked with fleets including aerospace company BAE, which it assisted in the procurement of 60 Nissan e-NV200 electric vans and the installation of 26 charging points at its Portsmouth naval base site.”

How can CleanCar help your Fleet? Electric Vehicles are the future…

Written by Alice Wilson – Digital Marketing Assistant

Are you a Fleet Manager worried about making the Electric Vehicle switch. Also, wasting a lot of money researching to much into it?  No one likes to waste money or time. The CleanCar System knows how you feel. If you are looking for a fleet solution then you are reading the right blog.

Discover with CleanCar!

It will take around 10 minutes to read. However, it will save you a lot of time in the long run, as you will find out whilst you start to read how we have a Fleet Solution for your fleet.

There is big responsibility involved in being in control of a whole fleet of vehicles whether it be from 10 – 20,000 vehicles. One of the top subjects to be thinking about is saving money for the business, isn’t that right?  But how do you do it? You have no time to look into it, so let CleanCar work out all the information for you. No need to overthink it…

Many fleet drivers want to know the benefits of electric vehicles, the cost of ownership and what technology it takes to make that Electric Vehicle switch.  It’s finding the best fleet solutions to suit you and your fleet. Well… this is where the Cleancar System can help you. The CleanCar System is your solution to your fleet issue of not knowing whether to make the Electric Vehicle switch or not. CleanCar has the system and statistics to making your fleet an electric fleet.  Read on for a better understanding of our system.

Not all EV cars are suitable for everyone – that is why there is a variety of choices for different drivers –

Remember, no one’s account is the same.  A BMW i3 may be suitable for one of your drivers to benefit from. On the other hand another driver may be suitable for a Nissan Leaf. It all depends on the driver and how many miles and journeys they undertake etc.  Giving the drivers knowledge of knowing what specific electric vehicle would benefit them and would help them have the confidence to know they are going to save money, as well as the business they work for.

An Electric Vehicle will save the business money and be a great benefit to helping with environmental issues. Making the switch by being proven it can be a great benefit to the driver and the business, is the best outcome. Once your fleet has switched to Electric Vehicles, the business will start to see a huge amount of savings.  Every fleet manager I am sure will be thinking, why didn’t I make this decision before? Have you made the decision now? No looking back to diesel/petrol, they are a vehicle of the past…

What if an electric vehicle was not for you?

If drivers would not benefit from having an electric vehicle then this will be made clear to the drivers from our system.  Not everyone suits an Electric Vehicle. Finding out if your fleet is suitable by using CleanCar is the safe way. You would not want to buy a fleet of Electric Vehicles and see you are losing money and trying to prove to your boss it was the best decision etc.  If this was to happen, this would be disappointing from the businesses perspective as this takes research, time and effort. Having the facts in black and white is something to go to your Managing Director with to prove you are ready and the business is ready to make the switch.

Having the information to prove your point, that there is going to be a positive impact for the business, will help in suggesting an Electric Vehicle transition. If it isn’t a positive impact you haven’t wasted as much money as you would have done by purchasing the whole fleet an Electric Vehicle, you just used The CleanCar system instead. Quick, easy and mess free. What do you think? Why not take the risk and use CleanCar?

What some Drivers experience through the switch –

Electric Vehicle technology is changing a lot. For some drivers changing from a diesel or petrol vehicle to Electric Vehicles can be frustrating… The thought of did I charge my vehicle last night? Will I need to charge again in the day? Have I got enough miles to get to this meeting? It is the anxiousness of knowing you do not have a lot of miles per charge but 100 miles is enough. You would quickly adapt to how many miles you vehicle would do. This is what we call “range anxiety” it occurs as drivers get quite anxious in case they run out of battery. Would you let your vehicle run out of fuel?  No, so why would you let your vehicle run out of battery.

The electric car technology is changing. It is changing for the better to improve the range on vehicles. However, charging points are appearing everywhere now so all drivers that feel panicky need to just plan their journey ahead of time. All drivers at first will take it as a shock to charge instead of fill up, but the more they drive the vehicle the more they will become confident in doing longer journeys. All you will need to do is have a few stops along the way.  These stops could be used to the drivers advantage, maybe to make a call, stop for a drink or just a rest on a long motorway journey.

Changing your business to electric and ECO friendly –

It is positive to know that the business you work or manage has made massive changes. The massive changes to help get on to the EV roads. Helping the environment and keeping our air cleaner for the future. The more diesel/petrol vehicles you switch to Electric in your fleet the more the business is becoming ECO friendly. Ready for the future? A lot of businesses are adapting to making future changes for the EV roads ahead. You just need to know which benefits of Electric cars would be good to you and your fleet.

CleanCar is here to help you decide if switching to an electric fleet will be a beneficial decision or not. We have the facts and we also have the statistics, it shows you the information that will encourage you to make the electric vehicle switch. Only if it is beneficial for you or fleet to do so. If we don’t think the Electric Vehicle switch will be good for the business or beneficial we will be able to explain why.
